Text: Jeremiah 29:10-14 – This passage is a favorite of many Christians because they find comfort in God’s promise of prosperity, hope and a future. Many don’t realize that this passage of promise falls in the midst of God’s discipline on the nation of Israel for their disobedience. Discipline is a part of life. Parents have a responsibility to discipline their children. God disciplines his children because he loves them and in this message, Pastor Russ reminds us that God’s promise is that he will always bring us back to himself and give us hope and a future. But there is a condition: We need to be seeking him with all our heart. As we look ahead to the new year before us, Pastor Russ challenges us to consider the best way to avoid discipline: Obedience.
