Text: Matthew 26:17-30 – Our modern culture often cringes at all the references to blood in the Bible. Yet, Christianity is a “blood based faith”. In the Old Testament, blood sacrifices were required to “atone” for (cover up) the sins of the nation of Israel. But these sacrifices were limited – they had to be repeated over and over again every year. Yet, they served an important purpose – they pointed ahead to Christ, the final, perfect sacrifice whose blood was shed to pay for all sins committed past, present, and future. On this communion Sunday, Pastor Win reminds us about three important truths regarding the “Blood of the New Covenant” Jesus referred to at the Last Supper before his death.
