Turning Hunger for Food into Hunger for God

Text: Matthew 6:16-18 – In this next section of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus continues with his warning about guarding our motives when it comes to spiritual disciplines. We have looked at giving and prayer. Jesus now turns to teach about fasting. In Bible times, fasting was a common practice. Ultimately, fasting is more than just denying ourselves food. Fasting is a means of denying ourselves something important to take the focus off ourselves and redirect that focus toward God. In this message Pastor Win looks at the benefits of building these times of self-denial into our spiritual lives.
